Flivr Review
Say hello to the collage of pictures above. Yes this is an app, and its name is Flivr.
Look and Feel
Flivr is a funny name. It's derived from Flickr. You already knew that but let's carry on. This app is simply beautiful. Every square inch is covered in randomly generated photos from Flickr. They're quite beautiful actually. This app is basically a scrollable list of different sized picture squares. You tap on one and are brought into another simple, intuitive interface. You go in and you see nothing on the screen except the full-screen version of the selected picture. Tap the image and get a nice smattering of controls on the bottom. It all reminds me of iOS on the iPad...too much like it.
It's all simple with the all too familiar pinch-to-zoom gestures and buttons on the bottom allowing you to set the image is your wallpaper or open the image in Flickr with the browser, or to just go back to the main interface. To move to the next image, just swipe.
Performance
Here's when it gets bad. Performance is terrible. Partly this is because of the pulling of images off the internet. Scrolling is a pain when pictures are loading but if you have a fast internet connection, you won't be waiting long to scroll even remotely smooth. Tap on any image and you're left waiting for a good 5 to 6 seconds waiting for the image to load. Pinch to zoom performance is choppy. It's like Android's browser when you try to pinch to zoom on a heavy web page. The zooming is slow and choppy. At least moving to the next picture isn't really that slow.
Reviewdev's Rating
5.5/10. The app is a very simple and beautiful Flickr photo viewer but I feel, there could be some more capabilities built in like Search. Also, performance is abysmal so you won't be checking out any new water falls or other scenery anytime soon.
